Alice M. Kabele, 84, of Spirit Lake passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, at her home in Spirit Lake. Alice was born March 20, 1937 to Henry E. and Hermina H. (Miller) Hupp in Estherville, Ia. Alice Graduated from Estherville High School in 1955 and was united in marriage to Edwin Kabele on November 19, 1955 in Estherville, Ia. In 1968, Ed and Alice opened “Kabele’s Trading Post.” Over the years Alice ran the store with their three daughters, Kathryn, Karrie and Sharon, while Ed seined all his bait, trapped fur, and started buying fur. In 1978, Ed and Alice expanded “Kabele’s Trading Post” for the Fur and Turtle Business. Ed and Alice sold “Kabele’s Trading Post” in 2004. In Alice’s free time she enjoyed playing Bridge and reading. Alice was a member of the St. Albans Episcopal Church in Spirit Lake. Alice is survived by her daughter Karrie Ferguson of Spirit Lake; Karrie’s son Tyler Ferguson, his wife Angela and their kids Caroline, Ethan and Eli; Kerrie’s Daughter Abby Ferguson; Alice’s Daughter Sharon Tyson, her husband Tyrone and her daughters, Rachel Watkins and Whitney Sheets, husband Stephen and their sons Emerson and Rowan; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Green (Kathryn’s daughter) and a special nephew, Chris Kabele Jr., his wife Laura of Spirit Lake, and Trisha Tyson “A Kindred Spirit” of Hartford, Wi. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Kathryn K. Green and five sisters, Jessie White, Johanna Rick, Marion Origer, Charlotte Ohrtman, and Bess Gray.
