Alice Marie Johnson was born January 16, 1924, at Adair, Iowa, to Jacob and Wilhelmina (Wedemeyer) Ernst. She grew up in Adair County where she attended rural schools and graduated from Adair High School in 1943.
On August 5, 1944, she married Floyd Johnson in Adair, Iowa. The couple moved to Broadview, Illinois, where they lived and worked. Alice retired from Allied Van Lines in 1988. Following Floyd’s death in 1996, Alice moved to Des Moines, Iowa. In 2007 Alice moved to Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa, where after a short illness, she died on May 17, 2008.
