Alice M. Finley, age 84, of Centralia, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Mt. Vernon Healthcare Center in Mt. Vernon, IL. She was born on June 13, 1931 in Kinmundy, IL, a daughter to Noah Jasper and Lula Corina (Yost) Jones. On September 5, 1947 she married John Erwin Finley in Osceola, AR and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1985.
Alice is survived by two sons, Gary Douglas Finley and wife Janice of Centralia, Dennis Ray Finley and wife Lisa of Sandoval, IL; a daughter, Cheryl (Finley) Reuter and husband Rodney of Centralia; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Blackburn of Centralia; two brothers, Harold Jones and wife Darlene of Centralia and Robert Jones and wife Nellie of Salem; a sister, Donna Connelly of Odin, IL; eight grandchildren, John Finley, David Hodges, Jesse Mulvaney, Matt Finley, Julie Finley, Shannon Finley, Joshua Finley, and Amanda Peebles; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; three sons, John Kell Finley, Michael Lee Finley, and Barry Allen Finley; three sisters, Mildred Branch, Mary Foutch, and Rosetta Walton; and a brother Darrel Jones.Alice was of the Baptist faith. She spent her life as a homemaker, raising her family. In her earlier years she enjoyed fishing, camping, flower gardening and politics. She was highly involved in her children’s lives and attended PTA meetings regularly.
