Alice Lucille Carpenter, 93, of Peniel, passed from this life on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, she was a member of Peniel Baptist Church and had been a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church in Palatka. Lucille was also a founding member of the Palatka Horseman’s Club and had served many years as the treasurer. In addition to her love of horseback riding, Lucille enjoyed working in the yard (flowers), crocheting and camping – especially at Salt Springs which was her favorite venue.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William F. “Bud” Carpenter, Jr., her parents, Ben and Alice May, a brother, Carl May, and 3 sisters, Clara Robinson, Maggie Champion, and Louise Rich.
Lucille is survived by her children, Jimmy Carpenter (Billie) of Columbia, MS, Benny Carpenter (Mindy) of Palatka and Marsha Heini (Mike) of Palatka, 6 grandchildren, Buddy Ballard, Jim Carpenter, Clint Carpenter, B.J. Carpenter, Becky Hart and Michaela Heini, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
