Obit Alice L.
Alice L. Kroll of Fairbury, NE the daughter of August and Maude (Lynde) Kroll was born June 16, 1912 at Helvey, Jefferson County, Nebraska. She departed this life Tuesday February 12, 2008 at Heritage Crossings of Geneva at the age of 95 years.
Alice grew up in the Helvey area. She moved to Fairbury, NE in 1928 when her dad was elected Jefferson County Treasurer. She attended Fairbury High School graduating with the class of 1930. After graduating she continued her education taking normal training in typing and bookkeeping.
Alice worked various jobs, helping in the County Treasure’s office, clerking at the Golden Rule and Montgomery Wards. In 1943 she went to work for Hesteds (dime store) and continued working their for over 30 years.
Alice had that special touch, always making you feel at home. When her brothers returned after WWII, of course they stayed with their sister Alice. She loved to cook, and baked many deserts, especially pies.
Alice enjoyed crocheting, and needle point.
