Alice L. Johnson
Alice Louise Marshall, 96, was born November 18, 1914 to Adam and Ruth Marshall in Hiteman, Iowa. Alice passed away August 29, 2011 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center in Chariton, Iowa.
Alice grew up in and around the Chariton and Williamson area graduating from Chariton High School in 1932. Alice married Henry Frye of Chariton in 1935 and lived in the area until Henry enlisted in the Navy in 1941. There were two children of the marriage, Francis (deceased) and Marvin.
Alice and Henry returned to Chariton in 1978. Alice was active in volunteer work at the hospital and the nursing home. Henry passed away in 1982. In 1993 Alice married Chester Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa and they remained in Chariton. Chester passed away in 2002.
Alice was a resident of Northridge Assisted Living Center and finally the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center.
Alice is survived by two sisters; Ruth Frasier of Chariton and Connie Rutherford of Bettendorf, Iowa, one son; Marvin Frye of Golden, Colorado; six grandchildren; Kimberly, Michaelnn, Patty, Steve, Laurie and Robin and five great grandchildren.
