Alice Florinda Correia, a longtime resident of Brockton, formerly of Stoughton, passed away after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at The Guardian Center in Brockton on October 14, 2017. She was 90 years old. Her survivors include her daughter Maria B.Burtsell and husband Richard of Brockton, her son Joseph A. Garcia and wife Lori of Brockton, her five grandchildren, Kathy Petty and husband Matt, John Knapp, Deborah Knapp, Kelly Cipullo and husband Rick, Joseph Garcia and wife Michelle, five great-grandchildren, Nicole Petty, Roman and Ariana Cipullo, Ava and Benjamin Garcia, her three sisters, Ana Silva, Maria Ferreira, Rosa Vargas and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alice was also a mother to the late Maria Bertha Garcia and a sister to the late Manuel Correia, Maria Correia, Mariana Domingos, Evansta Miguel, Serafim Correia and Antonio Correia.
Born January 11, 1927 in the Azores, Portugal, she came to Stoughton in 1961.Alice was a beloved daughter born to the late Manuel Domingos Correia and Mariana Florinda. She attended Portugal public schools and did go on to graduate college. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Correia was employed by the Northrop Corporation for many years.
