Alice Davis Arnold Cook, age 96 of Nashville, TN passed from this life on April 9, 2018 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Cook was born December 3, 1921.Mrs. Cook lived in Davidson County and was a member of Bellshire United Methodist Church. She had a lifelong passion for nursing. She received her undergraduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She received her nursing certificate from General Hospital and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee. In World War II, Alice was a cadet nurse with the U.S. Army. She ended her nursing career as the director of the LPN program at Hume-Fogg. Alice and Bill loved to travel, and they took many trips with friends and family. Alice enjoyed entertaining guests and she was a gracious host to many. She also loved to spend time sewing and reading. In her later years, she became an accomplished bridge player.She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William “Bill” Haywood Cook; parents, C.B. and Ruth Arnold; sisters, Mary lizabeth Basso, Madge Barrett, Dorothy Morris, and Patricia Powell; and brothers, Clifford Arnold and Tommy Arnold.She is survived by her sisters, Annie Harper of Nashville and Janie Blair of Murfreesboro; her four children, Ruth (John) Casey of Clarksville, C.B. (Alice) Cook of Philadelphia, PA, Barbara (Wayne) Forkum of Knoxville, and John (Cindy) Cook of Franklin; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer, John William, Jerry, and Charles Casey; Kathleen, Sarah and Rebecca Cook; Anna and Alicia Forkum, and Justin, Andrew, and Matthew Cook.; and twelve great-grandchildren: Catherine, Alexander, Carter, Eli, Allie, Avery, Hatch, Coda, John, Christopher, Clara, and Michael.
