Alfreda (Freda) Leah Roncarati Villani, beloved wife of the late Peter P. Villani, Sr., passed away peacefully at her home in Plymouth, MA on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 93. Family was at her side.Freda, the daughter of Robert and Marguerite (Cappella) Roncarati, grew up in North Plymouth and attended Plymouth High School, where she graduated in 1945. She was introduced by a friend to the love of her life, Peter Villani, and they were married in 1949. They enjoyed 31 wonderful years together, until his premature death in 1980. Freda bravely carried on and her five children, and then their families, remained the focus of her life. Freda was an accomplished cook, known for serving multicourse meals on the holidays that would last for hours. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Europe, Italy in particular. A highlight was a trip to Russia in 2007. She enjoyed her volunteer work at the Jordan Hospital, where she worked in the gift shop for over twenty years. A long walk provided exercise and companionship. Freda could be seen walking her three-mile loop along the waterfront with a friend or family member almost every day well into her eighties. She was proud of the fact that she lived independently until the age of 91. Extensive reading on many topics and keeping up with PBS news and the Red Sox kept her busy. But her children and grandchildren were the most important thing in her life, dropping everything to be at their side, especially in times of need. She travelled frequently to the west coast, Virginia, and New York as she loved spending time with her 11 grandchildren. They loved Freda’s warm and forgiving smile and knew a day with Grandma meant they would have fun, be spoiled and eat all of their favorite foods, including her treasured meatballs and ginger cookies.Freda is survived by her five children, Leslie Godridge (Mark) of New York, NY, Tracy Regan (Mac) of Watch Hill, RI, Sarah Husted (Jeff) of Duxbury, MA, Peter Villani, Jr. (Stacey) of Boston, MA and Christina Duncan (Scott) of Virginia Beach, VA. She leaves her grandchildren, Nina and Nicholas Godridge, Caroline and Alexandra Regan, Drew and Laura Husted, Peter, Brian and Nicole Villani, and Miles and Elena Duncan. She also leaves a sister, Mary Cash. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert (Buddy) Roncarati and William Roncarati, and her sisters, Shirley Collari and Barbara Elwell. The family wishes to thank Freda’s wonderful neighbors at Chilton Park Village, who checked in on her regularly over the years. They would also like to thank her devoted caregivers and the team at Cranberry Hospice who made her final days peaceful.
