Alfred “Al” Wayne Loftin, 78, died peacefully in his home on April 2, 2023. A man of few words, his quick wit and quiet, solid strength will be missed every day. He was devoted to his family, his church and his community. His kind spirit and dedication to his family was evident to all who knew him.
Al was born October 30, 1944, in Catawba, NC, to Janice Hildebran Loftin and Arthur Fred Loftin. He graduated from NC State University in 1967 before eventually working for Weavexx Corporation for more than 30 years as a textile engineer. He loved rooting for the NCSU Wolfpack, even though neither of his daughters chose to go to State. He often said, “You should be a State fan. My education at NC State paid for your college education!”
