Alfred W. Helwig, Jr. 89 of Seaside Park, NJ died on Tuesday December 17 at home in his sleep. Alfred was born in Newark, NJ son of Alfred and Helen (Rolle) Helwig on July 20, 1924. He graduated from St. Benedicts Preparatory School, attended Villanova University and graduated from Seton Hall University. Alfred worked for the Newark Evening News and Newark Star Ledger retiring after 30 years of employment.
Alfred lived in Livingston, NJ until 1994 when he moved to his summer residence in Seaside Park, NJ. He was a member of the Livingston Gun and Rifle Club and the Livingston Knights of Columbus Council 3533. While in college he was a member of the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol. He enjoyed the Beach and swimming. Alfred was a great father, husband, grandfather and shopper. Alfred is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Helwig. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Anna (nee McKinley).
His sons Dr. Alfred W. Helwig III. (Penny Helwig), Gregory Helwig (JoAnne Helwig), Noel Helwig (Dr. Carla Oberst ), Robert S Helwig Esq.(Kyle Helwig) and Dr. Kyle A. Helwig, (Dr. Anne Helwig). Eleven Grandchildren Jonathan, Chase, Evan, Parker, Seton, Cameron, Kristen, Collin, Luke, Kaitlyn and Brendan. Also our dear friend Elizabeth Rab.
