Alfred Wilbert Harrison, Jr., 62, departed this life on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, on June 24, 1950 in Tarboro, N.C., Alfred was the son of the late Alfred W. Harrison, Sr. and Alease H. Slowe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of North Carolina Central University. In 1992, Alfred retired after years of serving the City of Baltimore as a Correctional Officer. After retirement, he worked for the Parks and Recreation Departments of the Town of Chapel Hill and City of Durham.Throughout his life, Alfred enjoyed cooking, hunting, swimming, and spending time with his family. However, he will be remembered most for his exuberant love of is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cathy T. Harrison; son, Aaron X. Harrison (Altangla); daughter, Yolonda P. Harrison; godson, D’Andre V. Barnes; mother, Alease H. Slowe; step-mother, Mattie B. Slowe; mother-in-law, Augusta T. Boykin; sisters, Gwendolyn H. Williams and Teri Harrison-Clemons (Michael); brother, Roderick A. Harrison (Jacquelyn); step-sister, Vicki L. Brown (Herb); step-brother, Dana O. Washington (Marcella); sister-in-laws, Sandra Boykin and Tossha R. Franklin; brother-in-laws, George H. Boykin III, Frankie Franklin, Reginald Franklin and Demetris Green; aunts, Irma H. Dubose, Dorthula H. Vines, Pauline H. Woods; uncles, Sterling T. Harris (Lois) and Calvin J. Harris; and a host of other close relatives and friends.
