On June 18, 2016 at 11:55am Alfred Wade Wright, better known as Sonny or Sonny Boy, of Ringgold, graduated from his life here on earth to be in the blessed arms of Jesus. Sonny loved life—whether riding waves in Nags Head, dreaming of going to UVA—to actually attending and graduating from UVA, starting out as a receptionist at Hobbs—to running the Chattanooga office, Sonny had a drive and a passion for life that was contagious.
His life not only touched but inspired others to greatness. His love for others showed in everything he did. His journey with cancer never defined him, never slowed him down, and never took his eyes off of his purpose in life to “love Jesus, love others.”
Each step of this journey brought him closer to His Savior and a renewed passion for others to experience the hope and joy that only comes from knowing Jesus.
The Bible states in I Corinthians 13:13 “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” Sonny was strong in this life because his faith was in God. Sonny was enthusiastic for life because his hope was in Christ. Sonny’s life was so impactful for expanding the borders of heaven because by the power of the Holy Spirit he strived to decrease (in self centeredness) so that Christ could increase in agape love and Christ love did increase through his servant Sonny. The GREATEST of these is Love (agape love)!
Sonny is survived by his loving wife Kristie and parents Rose and Sonny, 3 sisters (who acted like they were his mom), 4 brother-in-laws, 1 sister-in-law, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
“Then when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this scripture will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death where is your sting.” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55
