Alfred L. Adams, 84, of Charlotte, NC died as a result of an accident on August 2, 2016.
Al was born in Kennebunk, Maine on May 19, 1932 to the late Alfred L. Adams and Madelyn Stevens. He was also preceded in death by his wife Marian Carrigan Adams, sister Claire Adams and daughter Adrienne Brown Auton. Surviving are his children Brenda Brown O’Berry of Fayetteville, NC, Gary N Brown of Charlotte, and Jane Brown Hodges of Matthews, NC. Six grandchildren surviving: Denise Hodges of Matthews, NC; Lesley O’Berry Bradford of Waynesville, NC; Janel Hodges of Matthews, NC; Preston O’Berry of Smyrna, GA; Michelle Brown Dale of Knightsdale, NC and David Brown of Pineville, NC.
He served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years retiring in 1972 after several tours abroad. Upon retirement he opened and ran a private dental lab in Charlotte.
From his early childhood years he was an avid seaman, enjoyed boating and was an active member of the Charlotte Yacht Club.
