On October 8, 2006, Alfred Lee Towers passed on. Alfred was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen Towers. He is survived by his dear children, Mary Weisenburg, Margie Sturgill, Harry Lee Towers, Donna Hamilton, Ronald S. Towers, Sr., Timothy Towers, Sr., and Barbara Endzel; his brother, Stanley Towers; 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, Emmitt and Sadie Towers; his daughter, Patricia Schmidt; and his sister, Elizabeth Osborne. Alfred was a native of Maryland. He resided in Glen Burnie for 51 years. He graduated from Easton High School in 1941. He then served in the U.S. Navy. From 1942 to 1943, he was stationed at Fort Story, VA. From 1943 to 1945, he was stationed aboard the USS ACUSHNET AT/ATO-63 in the Atlantic. He served as a Radio Operator 2nd Class during World War II. Alfred then worked with Painters Union Local #1. He was a member of many organizations. He was a member of the Masons Lafayette Lodge 111 A.F. & A.M. Life Member and the Masonic Orders since 1972. He was Chairman of Blood Donors for over 10 years. He was an active member of the Local Painters Union for over 45 years. He was a life member of both VFW Post 160 and the American Legion 276. He was also a member of the Scottish Rights 32nd Degree and the Boumi Temple. Alfred was a man who loved doing things.
