Alfred R. LaVelle Jr. was born March 20, 1943 in Cleveland, OH to the late Alfred R. LaVelle Sr. and Willa Mae Anderson LaVelle. Alfred entered into eternal rest on June 6, 2015 at the Floyd E. “Tutt Fann” Veterans Home in Huntsville, Alabama.

Alfred entered the military in 1962 and served 20 years, where he earned many honors; National Defense Service Medical, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Vietnamese Cross Gallantry with Palm (USARV), Overseas Service Ribbon-4, Army Service Ribbon, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon-3.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Sharon Miller LaVelle; three sons, Dermathe LaVelle of Federal Way, WA, Desmond LaVelle of Mobile, AL and Damon (Myisha) Miller of Decatur; three daughters, Zetta (Glendrick) Hayes, Tara (Matthew) Mosley of Hillsboro and Makeba Miller of Dayton, OH; three sisters, Carol, Georgia Ann and Alice Brown of Cleveland OH; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren whom he loved and a host of other relatives and friends.
