     Alfred L. “Al” Montforton, 85, passed away Monday morning, October 1, 2012, at his residence in Muncie. He was born January 4, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Adolphe M. and Edna Chauvin Monforton. He attended St. David Elementary School, graduated from DeLaSalle High School and Oakland University.

     Mr. Montforton served in the Marines during World War II and the Korean War.

     He served on the Detroit Police Department from 1950 to 1957. From 1957 until his retirement in 1987 he worked security for General Motors in Detroit, Muncie and Parma, Ohio.

     Mr. Montforton was a member of St.

     Surviving are his wife, Rita Ramsey Jones Montforton; nine children, Alexandria Walker, (husband, Ronald), Gallatin, Tennessee, Patricia Nancarrow, (husband, David), Flushing, Michigan, Dolphe Montforton, (wife, Donna), Westlake, Ohio, Claudia Medlin, Nashville, Tennessee, Jeanne Utter, (friend, Duane Kurapka), Chesterland, Ohio, Mary Meler, (husband, Paul), Brecksville, Ohio, and David Montforton, Parma, Ohio, Richard L.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Suzanne Montforton; his

step-son, Steven Jones; his brother, Eugene Monforton and three sisters, Beatrice Premer,  Sister Beatrice Monforton, S.S.J. and Sister Leo Ann Monforton S.S.J.
