Brzuchalski, Alfred J.

Alfred John Brzuchalski, age 91 of Glen Burnie, Md., formerly of Brooklyn and South Baltimore, passed away  Dec 10th at home under hospice care.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Buckey Brzuchalski, and his parents Adam and Elizabeth, siblings Marie (Mary) Koterwas, Teresa Lanocha, Stanley, Adam, and Wilhelm (Willie) Brzuchalski.  He is survived by his children Joseph and his wife Irene, Mary Lou Beck, Michael and his wife Colleen, and Linda Stucki, and Eric Sherrod as well as siblings Barbara Murphy and Wanda Carlton. He is also survived by grandchildren Amy, Katie, Nikki, Peter, Leslie, Donovan, Kirsten, and Kevin as well as great-grandchildren Madison, Isabella, Ashlyn, Brayden, Ryan, Virginia, Dexter, Ben, and special friend Carol Bass.

Alfred served in the United States Army during WWII, and was stationed in Italy during the Battle of Anzio, as well as North Africa.  He was en route to the Philippines when the war ended. He then proceeded to earn the following degrees:  Associate in Accounting from Eastern College of Commerce and Law, Bachelor of Science in Finance from The University of Baltimore School of Business, Industry and Management, and Master in Business Administration from Syracuse University.  While at Syracuse, he also completed Army Comptrollership School.

He retired from the U.S. Army Materiel Command in Alexandria, Virginia as a budget analyst.  He owned Personal Income Tax Service located in South Baltimore, where he thoroughly enjoyed his work and formed close friendships with his clients.  He retired from his work at age 85, when his eyesight began to fail.

He loved his family and his generosity extended even beyond them, to friends as well as strangers.  He lived and loved life, especially dancing polkas.  He was constantly traveling across many states following his favorite polka band, Jimmy Sturr and His Orchestra. He enjoyed all polka music, including the songs by Mollie B.  He spent many good times dancing at Blob’s Park in Jessup, Md.  He was also an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, and loved watching their games either on TV or attending games at Memorial Stadium and Camden Yards.  After moving in with his daughter Mary Lou six years ago, he attended the Pascal Senior Center, where he was loved by all.  He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, and formerly of St. Rose prior to moving to Glen Burnie.
