Alfred J. Beattie, 75, of Middleton passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 30, 2021. Al was born on December 11, 1945 in Farmington, Maine. He was the son of the late William and Syble (Hodgton) Beattie. Al was a member of the Springfield Vermont high school graduating class 1964. Soon after graduating, Al joined the U. S. Navy, serving for six years until his discharge in the spring of 1971. That summer, he met his future wife of 48 years: Jeanne L’heureux of Middleton. They were married on December 30, 1972. For a while they lived in Sandown, New Hampshire, saving up for their first house, which they bought in Middleton in the spring of 1977. In July of the same year their first son Michael was born. Two years later, in December of 1979 their son Mark was born.

Al worked as an Electrical Engineer for many years, working on large projects such as the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant and the Big Dig, to name two out of many. Al retired in 2008 and enjoyed vacationing in Florida, travelling in his RV with Jeanne and their dog Molly. Al will be remembered as a man whose kindness, good humor, love of music, connections with family and friends, and cheerfully endearing personality that has positively impacted many. Al’s love and light will live on through those he is survived by his wife Jeanne, their sons Mark and Mike and his granddaughter Lili.
