Alfred “Al” I. Murphy, 66, peacefully passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at his home in Meridian, ID.

He was born to the late Alfred and Marion Murphy, May 3, 1948, in Lowell, MA.  His twin sister Gerry arrived before Al, joining their older sister Linda.  His early years were spent at his father’s store Murphy’s Cash Market,  ice skating on the pond behind their home, and playing “Kick the Can” with his many cousins.

Al dedicated his career to Corrections, until he semi-retired in August of this year.

Under rainy skies, Al married Dianne (Giesler) on June 29th, 1991.  They initially met playing softball, on opposing teams.  Al always boasting that he had won…  In typical Al-fashion, he knew what he wanted and pursued Dianne until she realized they were perfect for each other.

Coming from a strong Irish Catholic family, Al always held stern opinions and beliefs.  And, he was never afraid to share them.  But, he also knew when he was wrong and took the time to apologize or acknowledge it.

Al is survived by the love of his life, his wife Dianne and three children: Rocky Murphy, of Baltimore, MD; Leea Murphy, of Gloucester, MA; and Tawnya Timson, of Stewartstown, PA.  He also is survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He will be terribly missed by not only his family, but by his friends throughout the world.

“Don’t let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment, that was Camelot.”  —Camelot

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to St. Luke’s Hospice for their compassionate care.  A special thank you to Connie Cruz for being there in our darkest time.
