Alfred (Al) Henry Atkison passed away on January 9, 2019 at the age of 86 in Peoria, Arizona. He was born on December 16, 1932 in his grandmother’s house on a farm in Hinton, Oklahoma to Arthur and Margaret Atkison. Al grew up in East Walnut, Oklahoma. After graduating from school he moved to Tucson, Arizona where he lived with his sister and brother in-law, Tex and Gertrude Russell. He started his life-long career as a truck driver in 1947. After 47 years on the road, he retired in 1994 with an accident free record with greater than three million miles. Al had a great sense of humor and could fit a joke into any conversation. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His primary interests included outdoor activities such as wood cutting, hunting and fishing. Al met Marilyn Temple at a dance in Tucson, Arizona and it was love at first sight. They were married in Tucson on July 13, 1951 and were happily married for sixty-seven (67) years. Al was drafted into the Army in 1953 and served a tour of duty in Korea. Since driving was Al’s penchant, it was not a surprise that he was assigned to be the official driver for a Colonel. Al is survived by his spouse, Marilyn, his son Al Atkison (Katie) of Carefree, Arizona and daughter Arlene Graham of Denver, Colorado and five (5) grandchildren Shannon Morris (Garrett), Heather Atkison, Amanda Flesner (Holden), Avery Graham (Lauren) and Raven Graham (Victoria). Al was preceded in death by his two 2 sisters Gertrude Russell (Tex) & Laura Marshall and brother, Arthur Atkison.
