Alfred “Al” L. Pottinger, 78, of Peru, passed away Saturday (September 19, 2015) in Spring Valley.
He was born on June 27, 1937 in Peru to Alfred Moses & Lena (McCook) Pottinger.
Al graduated from Hall Township High School in 1955. He then served in the United States Army.
He retired from farming in Peru and also retired from Local 150 Operating Engineers.
He was a member of the The Tri-County “S” Troop Snowmobile Club where he served as President, the Ladd American Legion, the Mendota Loyal Order of Moose, the Peru Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Bureau County Farm Bureau, the Peru South Shore Boat club and the Musicians Union 307.
He was the last living member of his band, “Al & His Pals” and was now playing with his band the “Lincolnaires”. He loved music, playing the accordion, and loved life. He was a very hard working man who was always bringing smiles to everyone he met and was the life of the party.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
