Alfred “Al” Dean Branscum, 70, of Rockwell, NC went Home on Sunday, January 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Al was born June 5, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Donald Dean Branscum and the late Virginia Dea Clanton Branscum.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Branscum Johnson.

Those who will cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Joyce “Joy” Marie Branscum; son, Chris Branscum and wife Stephanie; son, Jason Branscum and wife Beth; son, Victor Branscum and wife Makenzie; and daughter, Amaris Branscum and fiancé Alex Edwards; grandchildren, Ava Branscum, Addilyn Branscum and Everly Branscum; sister, Nadine Branscum Roberts; and brother, Jerald Branscum.

Alfred held his relationships close. Whether family, friend, or acquaintance his goal was always to connect. He seemed to always know what you needed and was willing to do it no questions asked.

For his family his presence was a comfort- you never knew silence could be so powerful until you met Al. If you called he would come, no matter the hour or the day. He didn’t have to say a word. Just knowing he was with you brought comfort and strength.

He held his friendships close. He may not have told you how much you meant to him but you knew through his actions. He was there to hear your struggles.

Al never knew a stranger.  The person that most would avoid Al found intriguing. He could talk to anyone and, in turn, talked to everyone. He knew the life story of everyone he met. He made people feel seen. On many occasions Alfred could be found getting back room access- simply because he asked.

To honor Alfred is to hold your relationships close in all aspects of life. Be there for your family, love with your actions, and never know a stranger.
