Alford Larry Welch, age 63, native of Stockton, CA, and resident of Wilmer, AL, departed this life on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at a local hospital. Mr. Welch is preceded in death by his father; Alford Louis Welch, one son; Barrett Rouly, and nephew Daniel A. Wells. He is survived by his beloved long time companion Dorothy Biggs Wheelus, children; Shawna Lynn Welch, Heather Jan (Jay) Jensen, and Justin and Rachel Wheelus, grandchildren; Acacia Barnes (Scott) Pique, Jaelin (Kenisha Fowler) Miller, Lucas Knight, Tayla Knight, Katelyn and Landyn Simpson, and Amelia Wheelus, great grandchildren; Cooper Pique, Graison Miller, and Ana Bender, mother; Lucille Riley Welch, brother; Donald Louis (Kathi) Welch, sisters; Sandra Loco and Darla (Donald) Wells, nieces and nephews; Sheryl Fondren, Steven Loco, Stacy Hinson, Jason Welch, and Donald B. Wells, Jr., several other great nieces and nephews, mother in law Betty Biggs, first wife Karla Sanford, and second wife Diane (Gaspard) Welch, and many other family and friends.
Mr. Welch spent his early childhood and youth in Mesilla Park and Las Cruces, New Mexico. He worked for several years as a District Manager of Pride Petroleum services. He enjoyed BBQ-ing and cooking for family, friends, and employees. He was always an avid fisherman and he enjoyed hunting and boating while in Wyoming.
Mr. Welch called his mother every Saturday morning without fail. He was a true friend to all that had the privilege of meeting him.
