Dr. Alexandra Shkolnik (nee Oliynyk), passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 in Akron, Ohio. She was 91 years old.
Alexandra was born in 1923 in Ternopil, Ukraine. She studied medicine at the University of Munich, graduating in 1949. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1950. She lived in Cleveland for several years, and then moved to Akron, where she lived for over 50 years. She practiced radiology from 1960 to 1990, the last 27 years at Barberton Citizens’ Hospital. Her particular interest was the study, screening, and diagnosis of breast cancer.
Alexandra was a devoted Catholic Christian, and had a great love for her Ukrainian heritage and culture. She was very generous and often helped many family members and friends.
