Alexander James Chalko, DDS, 92, of Juno Beach, Florida and Cromwell, Connecticut died April 4, 2016 at the Hospice of Palm Beach County in Jupiter, FL in the company of family. He was born in Whiting, Indiana to Alexander and Elizabeth (Stanchik) Chalko, the oldest of five children. As a young man, he and his brother Edward worked at a local gas station. He graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond, IN and Indiana University, receiving a DDS degree from the School of Dentistry. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While in the Navy, he met Virginia “Jean” Napoli, a Navy nurse. They married in 1947 and moved to her hometown of Middletown, CT and in 1955, with their young children, to neighboring Cromwell, CT. Dr. Chalko established a general dentistry practice on College Street in Middletown. With his wife’s sister, Anna Napoli, as his receptionist, he served patients for over 40 years. He was a former member of the Middlesex Memorial Hospital professional staff and the Rotary Club of Cromwell. He was a communicant of St.
