Alexander Ivan Fairbanks went home to his loving Heavenly Father on August 31, 2022, at the age of 43, after a battle with Sugar Diabetes and Congestive Heart Failure. He passed away peacefully close to his wife, Linda, by his side at their Home in Sandy, Utah. He was born to Dale and Rosetta Fairbanks on October 6, 1978, in Bannock County, Pocatello, Idaho. He grew up in the Idaho and Utah areas. Alex was preceded in death by his Sister, Melissa Joi Fairbanks. He is survived by his wife, Linda Beard Fairbanks; his parents, Dale and Rosetta Fairbanks; his brothers, Benjamin Fairbanks, and Christopher Fairbanks in and near Salt Lake City, Utah; his mother-in-law, Rosalie Beard of West Jordan; his sister-in-law, Wendy Clark her husband, Steve, in West Jordan; his brother-in-law, Arthur Beard, his wife, Cindee, in Nevada and their six children; his sister-in-law, Laurelie Olin, and husband, Donald, and their three children in Tennessee; his sister-in-law, Nancy Wilson, of West Valley; his sister-in-law, Tamara Pratt, her husband, David, and their two children, of West Jordan; his brother-in-law, Paul Beard, of West Jordan; as well as numerous friends and co-workers, he considered family in Utah and Idaho.
He will be lovingly remembered for his selfless generous time, resources, and talents that he gave and shared helping others. Alex was always known for going the extra mile for his family and friends and lending a helping hand. He was always giving of his time and energy in using his skills to bring joy to others. He was loved by all who knew him. Alex will be greatly missed and remembered by his laugh, sense of humor, teasing, his passion for computers, his love for the color green in all of its variations, and a friendly game of Chess. Alex loved music and liked to sing to people when he was happy. Alex was always trying to be a peace maker.
Alex earned his Eagle Scout Rank at the age of 14. He graduated from Bear River High School in Tremonton, Utah, in 1997. Alex was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and wanted to give back in his service by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone. He was called and served as a Full-Time Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, in the Minnesota, Minneapolis Mission (Hmong Speaking). He served also as a Stake Missionary and a Ward Missionary for many years. He also served as an Ambassador for the Young Singles Ward and helped the Stakes and Bishops in that area gather lists of young single adults to start a new Singles Ward in the Northern Box Elder County Area, since there wasn’t one. President Gordon B. Hinckley approved the Young Singles Ward in the Northern Box Elder County area, because of Alex’s efforts for singles to meet singles and find a companion. Alex loved the Lord and was grounded in his faith.
After his mission, he went on to College to study Computer Science, Programming, Development, Networking, Business Administration, and Electrical Engineering. He wanted to continue his education until he found his Eternal Forever Companion. He finally did meet her in 2019, a beautiful young lady, and fell deeply in love with Linda Beard from West Jordan. Linda was so special to him, that he spent every moment that he could with her. They were married on February 14, 2020 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. They resided in the Sandy, Utah area. Alex was a very dedicated, loving, kind, and devoted husband. He spent his time and efforts making a happy home for him and Linda and making her as happy as he could. He was always thinking of Linda and her well being. He did not allow his physical disabilities to get in the way of his kindness and love towards her. She was always first in his life. He enjoyed their time and life together and spending time with family.
