Alex Samuel Thomas Newman, 18, of Meredosia, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born January 20, 1990 in Jacksonville, the son of Randy Jay and Tammy Jo Seckman Newman.
He is survived by his parents of Meredosia; one sister, Kristi (husband, Josh) Burton of Bluffs; paternal grandparents, Larry Joe and Barbara Newman of Versailles; maternal grandparents, Eldred and Karen Ehlert of Meredosia; maternal great-grandmother, Mabel Alsup of Versailles; a nephew and godson, Brandt Burton of Bluffs; aunts and uncles, Doug and Iris Seckman, Anthony and Elizabeth Newman and Lisa Myers; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Richard A. Newman.
Mr. Newman was a 2008 graduate of Meredosia High School and was currently attending Illinois Welding School in Bartonville. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neelyville and the Meredosia Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, hunting, sporting activities and listening to music. He was an avid Fighting Illini and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
