Alec Dewayne “John” Allen, 67, of Goshen, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart.

He was born in Madison, W.Va., on Oct. 30, 1946, to the late Norman and Ruby (Metheney) Allen.

On June 7, 1998, he married his loving wife, Joanne M. (Minnes) Bennett, in Goshen. She survives him at home.

Also surviving are his daughters, Melanie (Sam) Lafollette and Beth Null, both of Elkhart, Adelina Newbill of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Carolyn (Elijah Wright) Bennett of Carthage, Tenn.; son Ray Clements of Elkhart; sisters Dee Reese of Silver Lake and Mary Lou (Dave) Coburn of Boomer, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Two sons, John R. Allen and Wayne Clements, and a sister, Sharon Rose, preceded John in death.

John was a driver and a shop worker for Monaco Coach of Elkhart for nearly 20 years, retiring in 2005 due to health. He was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast, Indianapolis Colts fan, and enjoyed trading and restoring vintage automobiles. He liked to watch NASCAR and could always be counted on to cheer for No. 05, Terry Labonte. He also enjoyed traveling and “antiquing” with his wife, Joanne; fishing; and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
