Winsted: Aldo V. Godenzi, 87, of Reaching Hill Road, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at Wolcott Hall Convalesent Home in Torrington, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of 56 years to the late Theresa (Lemelin) Godenzi who passed away in 2003. Born in Salisbury, CT, December 13, 1921, he was the son of the late Adrian and Mary (Eseppi) Godenzi. Aldo grew up on the Godenzi farm in Colebrook and had lived in the Winsted area most of his life. He had attended local schools before entering the US Army Air Force in September 1942, attaining the rank of Sgt and receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He worked construction all of his life with C. H. Nickerson, Panini Co. White Oak and O&G. After retirement, he worked as a custodian at NW Regional School #7 from 1989-2001. He was a life member of VFW Post #296, Past Great Sachem of the State of CT, I.O.R.M., member of Redmen #39, Winsted, Member of Degree of Pochahontas #37, Torrington, and American Legion Post #43, was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His survivors include three children, Joseph Godenzi and his wife Christine of Winchester Center, Linda Bartholomew and her fiance Rick Greenbaum of Winsted and Aldo Godenzi and his wife Connie of Winchester Center; a brother, Elton Godenzi of Colebrook; two sisters, Norma Spada of Colebrook and Adrianne Blumenfeld of Okeechobee, FL; seven grandchildren, Dawn, Michelle, Ryan, Fran, Justin, Lydia and Liesel; and five great grandchildren, Lily, Conor, Kyle, Hannah and Elise. He was predeceased by a grandson Joseph Godenzi, Jr. and a brother, John Godenzi.
