Alden Newel Olson

ROY – Alden Newel Olson, 89, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Lotus Park Assisted Living.

He was born August 22, 1926 in Millville, Utah the son of Newell Charles Olson and Florence Christina Anderson.

Alden married Emma LaRee Friedli on June 27, 1951 in Reno, Nevada. Emma passed away March 31, 1998.
Alden served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict.

He lived in Millville, Logan, Sahara Village, Sunset, and Roy, Utah.

Alden attended Cache County Schools. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He helped build the 1st Ward Chapel in Roy and was among the top ten for donated hours worked. He worked for Royal Bakery, Anderson Lumber and helped build houses for 10-12 years with his brother-in-law at Nicholls Construction. Alden retired after 39 years from Hill Air Force Base. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, bicycling, cooking, reading, watching sports, puzzles, fly tying, gardening and bird watching.

He is survived by his children: Christine (Norman) Pratt, Cynthia “Cindy” (Glenn) Rooks, Curtis (Jane) Olson, Caryn (Wayne) Arave, Calvin (Ann) Olson, 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, siblings: Douglas W. (Doris) Olson, Nola R. Pickett, Richard A. (Alice) Olson, Marilyn Sorenson and Brent (LeAnn) Olson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma LaRee, son Newel Fred Olson, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and two brothers-in-law Clyde Sorenson and Newell Pickett.
