Alden “Butch” Skow, age 74, of Humboldt, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at his home.
Alden Walter Skow was born on June 30, 1940 in Livermore, IA to Alda (Schulze) and Dennis Skow. He attended school in Rutland and St. Paul in Fort Dodge, later moving to Humboldt where he graduated from Humboldt High School. He was united in marriage to Juanita Silbaugh on March 7, 1958. Butch was employed as a mechanic at Bjornson’s Pontiac in his early days, owned his own trenching and backhoe service, and later owned Butch’s Auto Sales which he operated with his sons. In 1975, he, along with Mike Hart, bought into his father’s business, Stow-Skow, the Massey Ferguson implement dealership in Humboldt.
Butch was on the evangelism committee at church, enjoyed riding his Harley, and went on many Harley trips with family and friends. He enjoyed trap shooting, following grandchildren’s sports activities and especially making angel pins for the fundraising activities for the addition at Zion Lutheran Church.
Alden is survived by his wife, Juanita, and children Terry Skow, Rick (JoAnn) Skow, Dee (Dana) Hesse, Kevin (Paula) Skow, Kris (Tom) Gentry and Brian (Tina) Skow. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 bonus grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 2 sisters, Lorraine Koester and Nola Krier.
