Albino Gaw of San Mateo, FL passed away at the age of 69 on August 18, 2021, at Ocala Regional Medical Center after losing a battle against illness. He was originally born and raised in Manila, Philippines, and graduated from Adamson University with a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering. While there, he gained a keen sense of business from his parents and from his experiences in the poultry and hardware industries.
After coming to the US, he managed six electronics stores in Philadelphia, PA, and later worked for Circuit City in Kingston, PA. During that time, he met and married the love of his life, Maria Josefina Rivera M.D. Their partnership and marriage would last for thirty years. In 1998, he and his family moved to Palatka and planted their roots in the community where they helped deliver medical services to the residents of Putnam County.
He served as the business administrator of Sunrise Primary Care of Crescent City and Palatka. Among his major involvements in the community Albino was: an active member of the Rotary Club of Palatka for 20 years, a member of the Financial Committee of St. Monica’s Catholic church for two terms, a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Moose Lodge, and a regular donor to the Lee Conlee House. Especially missed will be his green thumb as shown by his personal garden of Chinese vegetables and his love of cooking which brought joy to family and friends alike.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kiat Gaw and Kim Chuan So, and two of his siblings, Betty and Raffy. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Maria Josefina Rivera-Gaw M.D.; his children Christian, Mary Grace, and Alexander; his grandchildren Sofia, Samuel, Christopher, Hailey, and Tiffany; and his other siblings Mary, Manny, Teresita, Kerwin, Miles, and Jens.
