Alberto Trevino, Jr., DDS, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 19, 2015 after a long illness. He was 83.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hermelinda Trevino, of 39 years.

He was a wonderful father to five children Cindy Kerwin (David) of Colorado Springs, Sandra of Harlingen, Albert (Edna) of Harlingen, Linda Burke (Bryan) of Harlingen and Rick (Susan) of Wylie. He is also survived by his sister Chris Darnell of Edinburg, Texas and 13 grandchildren Melissa Kerwin, Teresa Kerwin, Brenna Kerwin, Alyssa Trevino, Albert Daniel Trevino, Bailey Burke, McKenzie Burke, Kennedy Burke, Aspen Burke, Avery Burke, Bronson Burke, Ben Trevino, Scott Trevino and great grandson, Finn Tempelaar.

Born and raised in Edinburg, Alberto was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He graduated from Pan American University and received his doctorate of dental surgery from University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston where he was honored with admission into Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Dr. Trevino, as he was known to thousands, was beloved by his patients. His patients marveled at his gentle touch and gracious spirit. He was the first Hispanic dentist in Harlingen where he practiced for 42 years. He was devoted to his patients and many became friends over the years. In addition, he was very active in organized dentistry, serving as president of the Rio Grande Valley district dental society.

He redefined the word gentleman and was first and foremost a family man. He loved nature, the outdoors and was an avid hunter. His other favorite pastime was cooking. He was a man of devout faith who lived his faith through his peaceful and gentle spirit.
