Alberte Faure Ross died on August 26 after an extended illness. Alberte was born on June 12, 1923, in Lyons, France, and was the only child of Albert Faure and Eugenie Ribodeau Faure.
She lived most of her childhood years in the small town of Nyons in the Provence region of southern France. Being fluent in French, German, and English, she was commissioned as a civilian interpreter. During this time she met and married an American army soldier, Harrell Ross of Greensboro, Alabama, and this started her journey to the southern United States. Transportation included trains in France, the SS Brazil ship across the Atlantic to New York City, another train to Atlanta, and finally, a Model-T Ford to her new home in Alabama. Alberte was a unique and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 64 years, Edgar Harrell Ross.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Meredith Kessinger Damm of Atlanta, Melissa Tompkins Crooks ( Ryan ) of Atlanta, and Ryan Tompkins ( Jenny ) of Ocala, Florida.
