Alberta R. Levenick, 66, of Freeport, was called home to her lord to end her suffering on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. Born April 30, 1943, in Rockford she was the daughter of Edwin and Verda (Turner) Gray.

She married Kenneth Levenick on September 30th, 1967 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Rockford. Alberta was instrumental in starting Serendipity Candy in 1997. She also worked at Leath Furniture, T.M. Peters Firestone, Times Screw, and Rock River Distributors all in Rockford, and Book World in Freeport. Alberta taught knitting through the YWCA. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Surviving is her husband, Kenneth of Freeport; son, John (Misty) Levenick of Freeport; daughters, Susan (Terry) Heilman of Freeport and Rachel (Keith) Cary of Freeport; 1 brother, Roger (Karen) Gray of Belleville; 5 grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Heilman, Brandon, Ardan, and Evan Levenick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Elgin and Vernon Gray; and 1 grandchild, Sean Heilman.
