Alberta Fern Newton

Alberta Fern Newton was born December 29, 1916 in Abilene, Kansas to Albert and Mina Holton and Brother, Ira Holton.  The family moved to Goodland, Kansas, where Fern’s parents bought a farm and began farming.  Fern was joined by sister Edith approximately 5 yrs later.  Fern gradated H.S., attended and graduated beauty school and married Dale Newton, also from Kansas.  She moved to Denver where Fern lived for most of her remaining years, working as a hair stylist and manicurist. In the years after her husband passed, she lived in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Apache Junction, Arizona for about 20 yrs with her companion, Howard Thomas.  Her son, Dennis, was born in 1947.  Fern had 2 grandchildren, Brent and Tracy, and 4 great grandchildren.  Fern was a wonderful mother, grandmother & great grandma.  She had many friends that she has mostly outlived, as she was just shy of living for 100 years.  All who met her remember her warm smile and sweet disposition.  She was a wonderful human being who will be missed by all who knew her.
