Alberta Carbone Cain, 71, of 9 Edgemere Road, East Haven, passed away Oct. 14, 2009 in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family as she took her journey to heaven. She was the wife of Jacob Cain. Mrs. Cain was born in New Haven June 10, 1938, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Reopell Carbone. She was a sales representative at Sears in Orange for 25 years prior to her retirement. Alberta loved her family more than anything. We were truly blessed to have such a loving mother and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren generously and abundantly to her last day. She taught her grandchildren the meaning of a strong family and was the rock upon whom her family depended. She taught her grandchildren how to bake and knit and truly was their world. Holidays were so very special to her and she always made them perfect. Our traditional Italian Christmas Eve will never be the same. She had special friends that she was truly blessed to have. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Anthony W. (Susan) Cain and Frank (Patricia) Cain, both of East Haven; three daughters, Tammie (Robert) Kelsey of North Branford, Tressine (Thomas) Sobolewski & Francine (David) Haddad, both of Branford; step children, Mark Cain and Shirley (Guy) Tolomeo, both of Philadelphia; a brother, Francis (Gale) Carbone and a sister, Elizabeth (Harry) Cain, both of East Haven; 21 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert F. Carbone.
