     Albert Russell Sims, age 89, of Valley, Alabama passed away on October 21st, 2022 at his residence.

     Mr. Sims was born in Clay County, Alabama to the late Coston Sims and Ora Mae Harris Sims.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ilar Mae Bishop and Carnice Mathis.

     Mr. Sims and his family moved to the Valley from Headland, Alabama in 1970 and settled in Langdale, Alabama in 1971.    Mr. Sims attended trade school and began a 30 year career with Alabama Power Company where he retired as a Lead Lineman.  He loved his job and his career.  After his retirement, he and his sons opened a small business specializing in electrical repair.

     Outside of his career and his business, he enjoyed collecting watches and clocks, parching peanuts, and Auburn Football. He would restore the watches and clocks and gift them to family and friends.  He was known by many as the “Watch Man” or the “Clock Man”.  He was also infamous for his parched peanuts that he would also give to friends and family. 

     Mr. Sims above all other things was a very family-oriented man who adored his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

     He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eva Sims; children, Melanie Colley (Beric), Kevin Sims (Vickie), Eric Sims (Gina); brother, Joe Sims (Laura); grandchildren, Caleb Walls (Jessica Mclucas), Seth Sims (Echo), Misty Williams (Trent), Emily Sims, Libby Sims, Nicole Pike (Sloan), and Kyle Andrews; great-grandchildren, Zoey Grace, John Paul, Kaylee Skye, Cassidy Pike, and Cooper Pike; numerous extended family members and friends.
