Obituary of Albert R. Buchholz

Buchholz, Albert R. of Carrollton Township

Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Community Village. He was 96 years old. The last surviving child of Alexander and Amelia (Grams) Buchholz, Albert was born on September 5, 1921 in Saginaw. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II in the European Theater. Following his return, he married the love of his life, Ann Mary Viola on September 21, 1948 in Saginaw. Albert worked as a carpenter for over 50 years and loved every day of it. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #439. Albert enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Ann. He also loved polkas, spending time in Frankenmuth, and playing pool. He will forever be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Community Village and American Hospice Care for all the love and care they provided to Albert.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters: Roger (Diane) Jankowski of Saginaw, Mary Ann (Donald) DeRop of Saginaw, Robert (Patricia) Buchholz of Saginaw, Dennis Buchholz of Sevierville, TN, and Nancy (Daniel) Vogt of Ypsilanti; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Ida Tafel, Alma Benkert, and Elsie Graham; and three brothers: Carl, Henry and Paul Buchholz.
