Our beloved Albert Phelin Hanna passed away January 21, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Hospital surrounded by his family.
Figs was born November 15, 1929 in Wellington, Utah, the oldest of five children. He loved to participate in sports, and was the recipient of the Deseret News Basketball Player of the Week during his senior year at Carbon High School. He graduated in 1948 and was a popular and devoted attendee at each of his high school class re-unions.
He married Doris Morrow on June 24, 1950 and they were the loving parents of four daughters. The family was sealed together in the Manti LDS Temple on February 8, 1969.
Figs retired from the coal mining industry to become a professional bee-keeper. He was an active member of several state and local bee-keeping associations, eventually retiring to Boise, ID.
Figs enjoyed hunting, fishing, and billiards. He was an avid gardener and loved to share his harvest with friends and neighbors. His favorite past-time was reading the scriptures and sharing his enthusiasm for the gospel with others. He served as an LDS Branch President in Wamblee, South Dakota and as a volunteer at the Bishops Storehouse in Boise, ID. He will forever be remembered for his hard work and his strong faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert Hanna and Jessie Ballard Hanna Peterson; and by his sister, Mona Lee Boren (Larry). He is survived by his loving wife, Doris; his four daughters, Sherrie Lewis (Robert) of Bakersfield, CA, Shiela Andrews (L.D.) of Bountiful, UT, Pamela Juhasz (Don) of Springfield, VA, and Debra Jensen of Boise, ID; his brothers, Gilbert Hanna of Kadoka, SD, and Tom Hanna (Barbara) of Randolph, NE; his sister, JoAnn Herring (Earl) of Goodyear, AZ; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
