Albert M. Janko, 88, formally of LaSalle, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Willows Health Care, Rockford.
Mr. Janko was born June 15, 1922 in LaSalle to Anton and Olga (Certalic) Janko. He married Lois Berryman June 25, 1949 at St. Rochs Church in LaSalle. She passed away May 31, 2009. Albert was a graduate of L-P High School in the Class of 1941. He worked as a steamfitter and pipefitter for Local 81 in Ottawa and later for Local 597 in Chicago. Albert served as the recording secretary for Local 81 for many years. He served as a machinists mate in the Navy during WWII. He was member of St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle and a former member of Resurrection Church in LaSalle, VFW, Catholic War Veterans and the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Linda (Barry) Goodwin of Belvidere, IL and Debra Luna of Chattanooga, TN; 4 grandchildren, Brian and Amy Goodwin, Chelsea and Carly Luna; two brothers, John (Lorraine) Janko of LaSalle and Dean Janko of LaSalle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, and one sister in infancy.
