Albert J. Rapuano, 80, of Las Vegas passed away on July 17. Born in New Haven on January 20, 1942 of Albert and Louise Munz Rapuano, he is survived by his children Richard James (Judy) Rapuano of Mexico and Danielle E. Rapuano of Las Vegas. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Ann D’Albero of East Haven and his grandchildren Isaac McDorman and Halle Rafferty Parra of Las Vegas, and Mia Rapuano of Mexico. Favorite “unc” of Fred (Suzanne) D’Albero, Paul (Suzanne) D’Albero, and Sr. Doretta D’Albero, ASCJ.  Mr. Rapuano attended St. John the Evangelist grade school in New Haven and Notre Dame High School in West Haven. He was a proud 1963 graduate of Fordham University with a B.S in Business and Hotel Management. Upon completion of his degree, he served his country for two years in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Rapuano began his career in hotel management at the Palmer House in Chicago. He managed various 5-star hotels in Dallas, Atlanta, and Reno. In Las Vegas, he was President of The Riviera and then held a top management position at the MGM Grand. 

Mr. Rapuano was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to jazz. He kept up an interest in all things New Haven, frequently searching the Internet for articles about food and attractions in his city of origin. He especially admired the Jesuits who influenced him during his college years. He had a great work ethic and would give you the shirt off his back.
