Albert A. Marceau, 94, of Newington, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the CT Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Plowsky) Marceau for nearly 62 years. Born in St. Camille, Quebec, Canada, son of the late Anselme and Philomenne (Blanchet) Marceau, he was a Newington resident for over 60 years and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. He had a great love for America and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge and the Liberation of Paris. He was taken captive twice during the war and worked as an interpreter and mechanic. Albert used his multilingual talents as a translator for the French victims of the Nazi medical experiments who were at a displaced persons camp in occupied Germany. He retired from the Wiremold Company in West Hartford after over 30 years of employment. Along with his wife Alice, he leaves his daughters, Jeanne M. Beaulieu and her husband Dennis of East Hampton, and Nancy M. Flovin and her husband Aaron of Phoenix, AZ, his son Albert J. Marceau of Newington, his grandchildren George Gates III, Jennifer Layton; Jacqueline and Cheryl Beaulieu, his great grandchildren, Jacob and Cheyenne Layton, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Renee Beaulieu, and his siblings, Adela Dubord, Delia Poisson, Rose Lessard, Paul Marceau, Simonne Marceau and Maria Lemelin.
