He is in the iron hands of being
which cannot give him up.
Nothing is as it seems though,
the world turns on its head.
Will he cease to be?
Or does he move forward from here?
My heart is silent save for this poem,
in honor of his courage and struggle.
Life is predicated on desire—
maybe he has what he needs and never
mind the rest of it.
The joy in being will come later,
or maybe his rejoicing is present in him if not us.
The iron hands of being will never lose interest
in this little one or cast him in the bin of WAS,
for he can never be WAS,
being as he is always IS and WILL BE for us,
for he IS and never can be WAS.
