Alan Wayne Warner, 73, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away at home on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. He was born January 24, 1947 in Des Moines to Clement and Audrey (Dodson) Warner.
Alan graduated from Tech High in 1965, specializing in electronics. He immediately joined the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician. He served on the U.S.S. New Jersey BB62 and the U.S.S. John S. McCain DDG36 during the Vietnam War. After serving his country Alan returned to Des Moines and worked for the Des Moines Police Department as their electronics expert. This was at a time before cell phones when radio communication between dispatch, officers, and car to car was so essential.
Alan loved to read and was always learning. He enjoyed traveling and photography.
Survivors include his mother, Audrey, sisters: Janet Greer of Norfolk, NE, Debbie Merryman (Keith) of Hermitage, MO, Jeri Tillman (David) of Preston, MO, brothers: Dick Warner (Donna) of Warwick, RI, Gene (Diane) of Two Rivers, WI several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clement, and brother-in-law, John Greer.
