Alan Robert Lincoln, 91, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born August 7, 1928 in Kalamazoo to the late Frank and Edith (Hawley) Lincoln. Al was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and Western Michigan University.

Al served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1953. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Helen Brink on May 23, 1953. Al retired from The Upjohn Co. after 34 years as Executive Director of Corporate Taxes and received the Upjohn award in 1970. He was the Southwestern Chapter President of the Tax Executive Institute and its Vice President for International. In his community, he served as a member of the Kalamazoo Junior Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Portage Optimist Club as well as the Portage Fire Commission.

He also served as a President of the Gun Lake Protective Association. Al was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, where he ushered and coached youth church league basketball for many years. Al was also a local baseball legend with the Ramona Bears and went on to play for the Chicago White Sox organization, Paris Island Marine Corps base, and was several times captain of the Kalamazoo All-City baseball team. Al was also an avid golfer, fisherman and tennis player.

In retirement Al enjoyed his summers at his Gun Lake home and his winters in Vero Beach, Florida. However, his greatest passion was being with family. He was the most devoted father and grandfather. He is deeply loved and will forever live in our hearts.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 62 years, Helen Lincoln in 2015; son, Daniel Lincoln; as well as two brothers, Frank (Rita) and Edward (Marilyn) Lincoln.

He is survived by his children, John (Dona “DJ”) Lincoln and Laurie (Bill Nankee) Lincoln; grandchildren, Kailey and Michael Lincoln; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
