Alan Robert Amundson grew up in Evansdale, Iowa and graduated from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa in 1981. At the age of 20 he joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his Country for 20 years before retiring.
Alan met his wife, Virginia (Ginny) Lee Swyers, shortly out of high school. They were united in marriage on December 27, 1985 in Waterloo, Iowa. He took great pride in raising their daughters, Angie and Tammy. He was overjoyed at becoming a father in law when Tammy married David Jenkins in 2007and again later when becoming a grandfather to Ariel and Dylan. Holidays and birthdays with his family and extended family were some of his favorite times.
Alan was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburg Steelers. He was an enthusiastic gamer and loved boating with his family. Alan will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Jennings Amundson and Aileen Marie Bautch Amundson, and his mother in law-Beverly J Swyers.
Survivors include his lifelong partner and best friend, Ginny Lee Amundson, two daughters, Angie Sands and life partner Stacy Andrews and Tammy and husband David Jenkins, all of Boise; three siblings-Dennis Amundson and wife Rona, Kathy and husband Mark Dunsmoore and Darrell Amundson all of Iowa; two grandchildren, Ariel and Dylan Jenkins and many other relatives and friends.
