I am devastated and saddened to announce that my ‘Schmoopy’ of 30 years, Alan Moore, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep Sunday, May 13th, 2018 at the too young age of 62. I will miss his sense of humor, ability to sit and talk for hours about anything, his protectiveness of me, his trust, his loyalty and, especially, his deep love and respect in me, he always let me know he had. We were set up on a blind date 30 years ago and instantly were smitten with each other, with falling in love right behind it. We were married 8 months later.
Alan broke his promise and seriously broke my heart by leaving me alone too soon with our house full of three fur babies, Lucy, Princess and Rocky, and a dirty pool to clean. Thankfully, I have had the support of my two nieces, Julie and Jessica, who dropped everything and flew in, to love and cry with me, through this shocking and terrible time.
Alan is pre-deceased by his parents, Mary and Alvin Moore. Alan is also survived by his loving sister, Toni (husband, Charlie), and extended family–including several nieces and nephews. Alan also leaves behind our “daughter” Madrey, who adopted him when she was 5 years old. He willingly and lovingly stepped into the role of being ‘her dad‘, even giving her away at her recent wedding.
Alan went to Scottsdale HS where he enjoyed playing football and chess. He made lifelong friends at Scottsdale HS who will miss his good heart, warped sense of humor, poker playing , camping, hunting and shooting. Alan graduated from ASU with a BS, appropriately so-called as he was a big ‘B.S.-er.’
After various jobs, Alan found his niche and worked for Home Depot for 33 years in Lawn & Garden where he was loved by co-workers and customers alike.
Alan was most happy when he was trucking all over Arizona, hunting, shooting, hiking, camping and getting lost in the woods. Alan was a map guy. He could find anything on a map and loved to talk about the Arizona he knew inside and out. At one point this lead to his interest in geo-caching.
Alan never heard a good, tasteless joke he didn’t like.
I will miss you forever Alan, My Love, My Schmoopy, My Cowboy. We will meet again when the time is right and God is ready to reunite us. Until then….XXXOOO Marla- (YOUR Schmoopy)
