H. Alan Tufford, 74, passed away peacefully in Littleton, on May 31, 2011.  Al was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rosie, and his son, Mark.   Al and Rosie Tufford began raising their family in Broomfield, Colorado in 1961.   They successfully raised five children in a loving, stable, household.   Al is survived by four children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a large number of extended family and friends.  He was a strong Patriarch leading and guiding his children to independent, successful lives.  He was and will always be ‘our rock’.

Al was a paint contractor by trade.  He successfully began and ran his own business, Alana Painting and Al Tufford Painting, for over 50 years.  He will forever be known for his incredible integrity, work ethic, honesty, and the ability to ‘do the right thing’.   Al and Rosie retired in 1993 and moved to their dream home in the Red Feather Lakes area.  Their home was a labor of love ever since they purchased “the cabin” in 1976.   There, he enjoyed mountain living, fishing, working on their property, operating his painting business locally, and socializing with great friends and family.

Born in Denver in 1936, Al’s life touched nine decades.  Many amazing events occurred during Al Tufford’s lifetime, beginning with the first ever live televised sporting event in world history (1936 Olympics), WWII, post war boom, start of the atomic and nuclear age, amazing social changes in the 1950’s and 1960’s, the birth of rock and roll, birth of space age including the first man to walk on the moon, color TV, thirteen U.S. Presidents, end of the cold war, tearing down the Berlin wall, fantastic advances in medicine, amazing development of computers and digital age, 9/11, and many, many others.  Most importantly, the incredible guideance of his family.

Al will be missed dearly by his surviving family and friends.  We know he will carry on in heaven next to Rosie and Mark.  He will forever be our ‘rock’.  Your legacy will live on.   We love you Dad!
